A memorial wall for victims of police murder is in danger of growing to such enormous proportions there are fears it cannot physically sustain its own weight and remain upright for much longer.
The wall is so high and so wide it’s been deemed a hazard for visitors who flock to the wall to pay tribute to those shot, beaten or choked to death due to police slaughter.
Hank Kelby, the master craftsman who tends to the wall said: “I can’t keep up with the amount of names and layers I keep adding. The cops are killing people faster than I can build and engrave. I’m so behind I might have to take on extra staff just to keep up.”
Jerome Huntsley III who visits the wall to say a prayer each time a new name is added is fed up with having to visit the wall so frequently in the last six months. He said: “I made it my duty to come to the wall and say a few words but I’m having difficulty fitting it in with my other commitments. It seems as though there’s a new death everyday.”
Community leaders are currently trying to find ways to make sure the wall stays at its current size. One suggestion is to meet with the police and ask them politely yet forcefully to stop murdering people. Another idea is to adopt a Malcolm X defensive approach to the problem. This solution has solid and overwhelming support and will probably be the one chosen.
In the meantime, the police suggest the names be made smaller as they look forward to adding more.
